Set Up Your Companion Node

Get a personal carry node on the WNY mesh — hardware, firmware, and configuration

What is a Companion Node?

A companion is the node you carry with you. It pairs with your smartphone via Bluetooth and lets you send and receive messages on the WNY MeshCore network through the MeshCore app — no internet or cell service required. It's the personal, mobile role: your device, in your pocket, on the mesh.

MeshCore nodes can also be deployed as repeaters (fixed infrastructure that extends coverage) or room servers (group chat hubs). This guide covers the companion role only.
